Carbon Offset Programme
In August 2022, Cathay extended its carbon offset programme, Fly Greener, to apply to cargo shipments, further cementing its leading position in promoting sustainability in aviation across Asia, as part of its commitment to tackling climate change by achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Its latest sustainability initiative offers cargo customers the opportunity to accurately audit emissions from their shipments, powered by an integrated online carbon-emissions calculator, and then offset them via carbon-reduction projects certified under the Gold Standard to ensure they are verifiable, credible and make a difference to local communities and the environment.
Asia’s first major corporate Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Programme programme
In 2022, Cathay launched its pilot Corporate SAF Programme, the first major programme of its kind in Asia. The programme provides corporate customers the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint from business travel or airfreight by contributing to the use of SAF, which was uplifted for the first time from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) on Cathay Pacific flights as part of the programme.
