Cathay Cargo has won the “World’s Best Airline Branded Cargo Operations” category at the Airline Ratings’ Airline Excellence Awards 2026. The award recognises the consistency and reliability of Cathay Cargo’s operations across its network, and its “commitment to cargo as a core business rather than a supplementary activity”.
Cathay Director Cargo Dominic Perret says: “For 80 years, air cargo has been an important line of business for the Cathay Group. It is always an honour to be recognised by the industry for the work that we do.
“As the largest cargo operator at the world’s busiest cargo airport, we are committed to playing our part in strengthening Hong Kong’s position by continuing to prove that We Know How and to invest in technology, our solutions, service and operational safety to maintain our customers’ trust.”
Airline Ratings noted that Cathay Cargo “distinguished itself through its integrated cargo product, dedicated freighter fleet, strong operational reliability, and advanced handling capability for specialised shipments.” General Manager Cargo Commercial James Evans says that specialised shipment solutions remain key differentiator for Cathay Cargo and a critical capability for our customers.
Evans adds that Cathay Cargo will continue to focus this year on digital developments that enhance the customer experience – particularly on making cathaycargo.com a one-stop portal for customers’ needs. “Our goal is to provide a seamless journey from booking to tracking, all within our digital ecosystem,” he says. Recently, the site introduced a new Manage Booking function that puts greater control in customers’ hands.
The award panel also praised Cathay Cargo’s groundbreaking “lithium battery detection, and digital tracking visibility… supported by mature operational procedures.” Tim Wong, General Manager Cargo Service Delivery, outlined how safety and reliability underpin Cathay Cargo’s service delivery. “By continuously strengthening our processes and using data and technology to support informed decisions, we focus on delivering resilient operations and consistent service that our customers can trust,” he said.
Perret adds that the Cathay Cargo team and its supplier partners are essential to delivering Cathay Cargo’s objectives in the coming year. “This award is great recognition for their efforts and I’d like to thank our teams across the world for their dedication and can-do spirit as we strive to become the world’s best air cargo carrier.”
