Cathay Cargo won Overall Carrier of the Year – Asia Pacific at the ninth Payload Asia Awards 2022 at a ceremony held in Singapore at the end of October. Siddhant Iyer, Regional Head of Cargo Southeast Asia, was present to collect the award, which was voted for by readers of Payload Asia magazine, a major media outlet for the airfreight industry.

Cathay Cargo was recognised for its ability to navigate change and adapt to market uncertainties during the pandemic, as well as continuing to invest and innovate while going the extra mile to deliver world-class customer service.

Customer-centric service

Director Cargo Tom Owen said: ‘This award is in recognition of the tremendous effort of all our teams across the network in delivering the best services to our customers, despite the uncertainties of an ever-changing operational environment over the last very challenging year.’

During that time, Cathay Cargo implemented several ground-breaking digital projects to improve the customer experience while keeping vital supply chains connected during a period of constrained capacity. These launches included online booking platform, Click & Ship, a suite of refreshed Priority tiers to make the shipment journey and customer experience more seamless, and debuting two new milestones in the Cargo iQ Master Operating Plan. On the sustainability front, Cathay Cargo launched Asia’s first Corporate Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Programme and extended its carbon offsetting programme to cargo shipments.

‘These are vital steps on our journey to becoming the world’s most customer-centric air cargo service brand,’ added Owen. ‘I’m very grateful to everyone who recognised our efforts and cast their vote for us.’

Hong Kong International Airport also won Cargo Airport of the Year – Asia Pacific.
