Cathay Cargo has won major plaudits from the readers of two of the industry’s leading trade magazines, helping to reaffirm Hong Kong’s status as the number one air-freight hub.

Cathay Cargo picked up the ‘Best Cargo Airline – Asia’ at the Air Cargo News Awards 2020. Sponsored by Flight Global and voted for by readers, the award commended Cathay Cargo for its investments in cargo services, in particular for pharma, as well as the pioneering next-generation track-and-trace trials and innovative, blockchain ULD management programme.

Later in the month, the Cathay Pacific Group’s cargo credentials were boosted again with wins at the Asia Cargo News AFLAS (Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain) Awards. Cathay Cargo was named Best Air Cargo Carrier – Asia, while CPSL (Cathay Pacific Services Limited), which operates the Cathay Cargo Terminal, picked up the award for Best Green Air Cargo Terminal Operator.

According to the organiser Asia Cargo News, this year’s AFLAS Awards finalists were chosen for demonstrating ‘leadership as well as consistency in service quality, innovation, customer-relationship management and reliability’, and were nominated and voted for by the magazine’s readers.

Cathay Pacific Director Cargo Tom Owen said: ‘These awards are testament to the enormous efforts of all our teams in Hong Kong and around the world who, in an unsettling year for the industry and for the Cathay Pacific Group, have continued to sell and deliver our promises to customers safely and professionally every time.

‘In what continue to be challenging conditions, we will continue to prioritise the focus on our customers’ needs on the commercial, service delivery and operational fronts. The award to CPSL in particular reflects an ongoing commitment to investment in continuous improvement across every aspect of our terminal business, especially in digital innovation and sustainability. We are delighted that we are able to contribute to Hong Kong’s status as the world’s number one air cargo hub in this way.’
