Cathay Cargo has become the world’s first airline to achieve three IATA CEIV recertifications at the same time, after working towards CEIV Pharma, CEIV Fresh and CEIV Live Animals accreditations simultaneously.
IATA Regional Head of Sales, North Asia Yvonne Ho presented the certificates to Director Cargo Tom Owen on the first day of the Asia Fruit Logistica exhibition in Hong Kong. ‘I want to congratulate Cathay Cargo on this great achievement of completing the three CEIV recertifications – Pharma, Fresh and Live Animals – through an integrated assessment of its special cargo systems and processes,’ she said. ‘This great achievement is testament to Cathay Cargo’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in special cargo transportation.’
Director Cargo Tom Owen said that the recertifications were as significant as receiving the accreditations in the first place. ‘‘We're delighted to be recertified in three key CEIV areas of Fresh, Pharma and Live Animals,’ he said. ‘It shows that Cathay Cargo is maintaining the quality in its service delivery and following the spirit of continuous improvement. It has been a lot of work for the team but, ultimately, these recertifications are additional pieces of evidence that show “We Know How” to do it better, and are important in terms of building trust with our customers as their requirements change over time when it comes to the care for their specialist shipments.’
Cathay Cargo was the first airline to receive CEIV Fresh in 2019 and it continues to hold the complete set of CEIV accreditations, along with CEIV Lithium Batteries, which was awarded in August 2023.
