The global air cargo industry faces persistent variable winds — geopolitical shifts, economic fluctuations, and evolving trade dynamics. Yet at Cathay Cargo, we see these not just as obstacles, but as opportunities to strengthen our partnerships, sharpen our focus, and demonstrate the resilience that defines us.

I’m delighted to share that our first-quarter performance has set a solid foundation for the months ahead. This success is a testament to the dedication of our team and the trust of our customers — working side by side, we’ve proven time and again that agility and collaboration are our greatest assets. And as we adapt to changing conditions, one thing remains constant: our shared commitment to keeping Hong Kong International Airport, not just the most reliable, but the world’s busiest air cargo gateway.

On message at World Cargo Symposium

The recent IATA World Cargo Symposium (WCS) in Dubai reinforced what we’ve long believed: progress in our industry rests on three critical pillars – safety and security, digital transformation, and sustainability. It was inspiring to see our team actively shaping these conversations, particularly in digitalisation, where we continue to set the pace.

Extra security and care at the Cathay Cargo Terminal

A standout moment at WCS was Cathay Cargo Terminal becoming the first ground-handling organisation in Asia to achieve IATA’s Security Management System (SeMS) certification. This isn’t just about compliance – it’s about our people’s relentless focus on protecting what matters most. With AI and thermal imaging now enhancing our security protocols, we’re setting new standards for safety in cargo handling.

A spring break at the Sevens and the summer schedule

This summer's network expansion underscores our confidence in Hong Kong's role as Asia's premier aviation hub. The addition of key destinations including Brussels, Munich, Rome, Hyderabad, Urumqi, and Dallas Fort Worth. In Dallas, our partnership with WFS means a seamless experience for your shipments, whether they’re traveling in bellies or freighters.

The Hong Kong Sevens was another highlight, with its first running in the new Kai Tak Stadium. In reconnecting us with more than 70 customers and partners, it reminded us that even in a digital age, nothing replaces face-to-face collaboration. The insights shared at our Cargo Business Update reinforced how much we value learning directly from you about the challenges and opportunities ahead.

While we can’t predict every challenge that lies ahead, here’s what I know for certain: with our skilled team, trusted partners, and shared focus on excellence, we’re ready for whatever comes next. Together, we’ll keep cargo moving, ideas flowing, and Hong Kong’s position as the world’s preferred air cargo gateway stronger than ever. Because at Cathay Cargo, we don’t just navigate uncertainty — we rise above it, together.
