The cream of Hong Kong’s air cargo community gathered in early May for the Cathay Cargo 2024 Top Customer Awards Dinner, a recognition of the carrier’s top-performing agents and freight forwarders from the city and the Greater Bay Area over the past year. 

Around 120 guests from the freight-forwarding industry attended the ceremony, held at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong hotel, and a total of 44 awards were presented across four categories.

The Cathay Cargo senior leadership team, led by Director Cargo Tom Owen, GM Cargo Commercial James Evans and GM Cargo Service Delivery Tim Wong, were joined on stage by Lavinia Lau, Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, to kick off the evening’s events. They were then joined by other members of the Cathay Cargo leadership team for a toast to the honoured guests. 

Owen and Evans highlighted Cathay Cargo’s progress, solution developments and results over the past year, and outlined a path through the complexities of the current economic situation. They both thanked customers for their continued support. 

It was then time for dinner and the awards, with plenty to celebrate. The Business Partner Awards were won by Hong Kong Post, China Post and Linex Express, while the Rising Star Awards were picked up by Transwill Express (HK) Ltd and Karry On Global Logistics Ltd. 

In between musical interludes from a live band and Hong Kong artiste Cheronna Ng, there were 14 Outstanding Route Performance Awards, which were received by forwarding companies and 25 Top Customer Awards. 

“These annual awards reflect the strong and longstanding partnerships and commercial links between Cathay Cargo and the city’s air cargo industry,” said Cathay Cargo’s Owen. “We value hugely this relationship that has seen the industry and Hong Kong through both the good and the more challenging times over recent years.”
