Cathay Cargo hosted top freight forwarders from Hong Kong and the wider Greater Bay Area (GBA) at the 2025 Top Customer Awards Dinner, held at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong. Set against the backdrop if the city, it was an evening of appreciation and recognition for their support over the past year.

The Cathay Cargo senior leadership team – led by Director Cargo Dominic Perret, General Manager Cargo Commercial James Evans and General Manager Cargo Service Delivery Tim Wong – welcomed guests from the stage and were joined by other members of the team for a toast to the honoured guests. After the toast, guests enjoyed dinner, an awards presentation and live entertainment.

In Perret’s opening remarks, he thanked guests and outlined Cathay Cargo’s focus on continued business growth. He highlighted the addition of two more Airbus A350F freighters, bringing the total number of confirmed next-generation aircraft purchases to eight, with options on 18 more. These aircraft will add to Cathay Cargo’s capacity and help maintain Hong Kong International Airport’s standing as a leading global air cargo hub, especially with the extra tonnage they will carry. He also highlighted strengthening intermodal connections to the GBA, in particular for imports and perishables, via the Air Land Fresh Lane – which now extends to Macao.

Then it was on to the serious, and not so serious, highlights of the evening during dinner. These included the presentation of 44 awards to guests. On the less serious side, the music and dance performances saw Frank Yau, Head of Hong Kong and GBA Sales, lead a rousing dance routine with some of his colleagues, bringing a sense of energy to the room.

The evening also celebrated Cathay’s 80th anniversary, with cabin crew wearing uniforms from across the past eight decades to echo the airline’s heritage and set the celebratory mood of another successful event, and another year working with Cathay Cargo’s top customers. “This annual event celebrates the strong partnership between Cathay Cargo and Hong Kong and the wider GBA’s air cargo community. It also demonstrates our collective commitment to keeping our hub in a leading position, supported by close collaboration across the industry,” says Yau.
