Ultra Track was introduced as a key part of Cathay Cargo's Vaccine Solution. This multi-dimensional tracking product is ideal for pharmaceutical, perishable and other vulnerable shipments. Ultra Track is Cathay Cargo's first IoT (internet of things) application and uses low-energy Bluetooth tags and readers to enable customers to monitor shipments in near real-time through the airport-to-airport leg of the shipment journey.
In 2021, Cathay Cargo unveiled its digital cargo-booking platform, Click & Ship, which now accepts bookings either via the cathaycargo.com website or via API links to agent booking platforms. It allows customers to view prices and available capacity, and book shipments with instant confirmation through an intuitive booking interface – as well as access a full overview of pricing, scheduling and flight availability, all on a single page.
In 2022, Cathay Cargo became one of the first carriers to pioneer two milestones in the Cargo iQ Master Operating Plan. The new milestones, FOW (freight out of warehouse control) and FIW (freight into warehouse control), bring greater transparency to the overall shipment journey and better measurement of ground-handling performance, for imports and exports at air waybill level.
Cathay Pacific is committed to helping the International Air Transport Association (IATA) reach its goal of implementing e-freight worldwide. From 1 January 2011, the airline switched to 100 per cent electronic air waybills (e-AWB) in the Hong Kong market and as of the end of 2022 has completed the full roll-out of e-AWB to all Cathay Pacific ports. According to IATA e-AWB’s monthly report, the penetration percentage as of 2021 is over 95 per cent (for Cathay Cargo).
Cathay Cargo is proud to be recognised by its customers and the wider air-cargo industry for its service, reliability and innovation. Among its recent awards, Cathay Cargo has been named Cargo Operator of the Year in Air Transport World’s (ATW) 51st annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards.
