Cathay Pacific Airways today (Friday, 20 September) announced that as Super Typhoon Usagi edges closer to the coast of Guangdong, it is anticipated that the weather in Hong Kong on Sunday (22 September) and Monday (23 September) will deteriorate. Strong winds and heavy rain are expected.
Given the weather conditions, there is a strong likelihood that flights departing and arriving at Hong Kong International Airport from Sunday evening to Monday morning will be delayed or cancelled. The airline is monitoring the situation closely and will issue further advice at the first opportunity on Saturday (21 September).
The airline will continue to monitor the situation closely and will issue further updates once more information becomes available. The airline regrets any inconvenience this may cause and hopes for passengers’ understanding.
